Ask A Trainer

How will training help my dog's separation anxiety?

Separation anxiety is characterized by your dog's inability to cope with your absence. It can manifest itself in many ways -- including destructive chewing or digging, tearing up the house, house-soiling, or excessive barking. This is because your dog has placed most of his confidence in you, and not in himself.

We will build up your dog's confidence by giving him a job to do. That job doesn't have to be anything difficult or complex, but something that your dog can feel good about doing. Just telling him when and where to lie down is enough for many dogs. As we build your dog's confidence, his over-dependence on you will disappear, as will his separation anxiety.

You and your dog will both be happier.

Ask the Dog Trainer
the AAA K-9 newsletter

Not just for clients, the AAA K-9 newsletter features tips and tricks about working with your canine best friend. It's a free newsletter which will be sent once a month or so. I'll share experiences with my own dog, talk about challenges clients have faced and overcome along the way (always with their permission, of course!) and maybe even share some doggy humor!
